Is your diet giving you all that you need?

Diet, along with lifestyle habits, is thought to have the greatest effect on health. Unfortunately, some people think that eating well and being healthy means sporting six-pack abs. In many cases, this could not be further from the truth. Your diet provides the elements your body and its different systems need to work properly. Vitamins, minerals, trace elements and various macronutrients all play a vital role in your level of health.
You might be wondering if you’re getting enough nutrients to meet your body’s primary needs. You probably are. However, I think the question you should be asking yourself is: “Does my diet allow me to function optimally?” The answer to that is: probably not. Even if you have an iron will and unwavering discipline, it’s difficult for most people to get all the nutrients their body needs to function at peak levels.
Everyone knows that the more active you are, the more nutrients your body needs. But what most people tend to forget is that even when they are sedentary, lying on their couch watching Netflix, the body is still active and needs a constant supply of nutrients. We can agree that some vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, iron and several of the B vitamins, are easier to get through food. However, it is not as easy to get vitamin E, vitamin D, magnesium and zinc.
I often recommend that my patients take a multivitamin, as well as specific vitamins if they have deficiencies or certain needs. There is a huge difference between supplementing a substance found in food and an herbal complex or other specific substances. For some people, a higher dose of vitamins and minerals helps them get a better handle on their emotions, get better quality sleep, improve their digestion and even lose weight.
Support your health by choosing quality supplements. Ask a qualified professional for advice.
Optimal health is within reach. Oftentimes, the body only needs a helping hand to get back on track.
